Good Sam offers fellowships in Emergency Ultrasound, Pediatric Emergency Medicine, Emergency Medicine Administration & Leadership, and Observation Medicine.
We have had graduates go on to complete fellowships in Critical Care, Emergency Medical Services, Toxicology, Administration, International Medicine, and Palliative Care.
Emergency Ultrasound Fellowship
The 1-year Emergency Ultrasound Fellowship aims to further equip emergency physicians with ultrasound expertise while offering exposure to a wide range of administrative, educational, research, and leadership opportunities. Our high acuity emergency department offers ample exposure to traumatic and medical pathologies. We have 6 dedicated EM Resident/Fellow ultrasound machines in the department. The Fellows are an integral part in teaching residents the fundamentals of ultrasound as well.
Pediatric Emergency Medicine Fellowship
The Pediatric ED at Good Samaritan University Hospital sees one of the highest volumes of children in New York. We place a strong emphasis on pediatric clinical education. We know that adequate exposure to pediatric EM is essential. Rotations of acceptable quality and frequency in a dedicated pediatric ED is the optimum route to this exposure. We offer a Pediatric EM fellowship as well.
Emergency Medicine Administration and Leadership Fellowship
Our 1-year Emergency Medicine Administration and Leadership Fellowship teaches critical ED management skills by combining an intensive academic curriculum with hands-on involvement in ED and hospital administration, coupled with private administrative, staffing and business management exposure. We equip the next generation of Emergency Medicine Physicians with the clinical, business and operational skills required to become successful leaders in Emergency Medicine and other areas of healthcare.
Observation Medicine Fellowship
Good Samaritan also offers a 1-year fellowship in Observation Medicine. Our Observation Unit promotes quality healthcare and patient safety to patients who require services beyond their initial ED evaluation and treatment. By providing an efficient use of healthcare resources in a teamwork-based approach, we teach the fellow how to effectively manage patient flow with an evidence-based clinical approach to patient care. Learning Observation Medicine in our very well structured and high-functioning Obs Unit provides the Fellow with the necessary knowledge and resources to be able to be a leader in the field of Observation Medicine.
